Disaster Recovery and High Availability¶
Overview¶
This document discuss the setup of Disaster Recovery and High Availability for Optima and Camunda 8 Components.
Components¶
Optima contains following components, which needs a kind of DR setup and a setup for High Availablity.
| Sno. | Component | Multi Region | Mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. | Zeebe | Supported | Active Active |
| 2. | Zeebe Gateway | Supported | Active Active |
| 3. | ElasticSearch | Not Supported (Open Source) | Active Passive |
| 4. | Database (Postgres) | Supported (Azure Managed) | Active Active |
| 5. | Keycloak | Supported | Active Active |
| 6. | Identity | Not Supported | Active Passive |
| 7. | Tasklist | Not Supported | Active Passive |
| 8. | Operate | Not Supported | Active Passive |
| 9. | Optimize | Not Supported | Active Passive |
| 10. | Connectors | Not Supported | Active Passive |
| 11. | Web Modeler | ? | ? |
| 12. | Optima Gateway | Supported | Active Active |
Choosing a DR Setup¶
We can follow one of the followin setup:
- Active Active - Higher Cost - No Data Loss
- Active Passive - Lower cost - Potential for dataloss
- Passive Cold - Lowest cost - High risk of data loss
While the Active-Active sounds better, but most of the Camunda 8 Components are stateful in nature. We will explore the kind of DR, that would be meaningful for each component.
