Installing Dynatrace Agent

  1. Most of the configuration for Dynatrace Agent is controlled by the Dynatrace Team. We have converted the instructions provided by them into Jenkins Pipeline.

  2. The Dynatrace Team provides following files for each environments. There is a github repository created with an automated pipeline that deploys dynatrace onto the cluster.

    1. dynakube.yaml.
      1. We have parameterized the ##DYNAKUBE_API_INGEST_TOKEN## and the ##DYNAKUBE_DATA_INGEST_TOKEN##
    2. fluent-bit-values.yaml.
      1. This file is not installed yet, and will be used in future when logging will be enabled.

  3. To install the dynatrace agent run the job for any environment in the Jenkins.

    1. For image version update. Replace version here: https://github.com/optum-rx-platformintegration/optima-dynatrace/blob/dev/Jenkinsfile.
    2. For changing label as per the Dynatrace team. https://github.com/optum-rx-platformintegration/optima-dynatrace/blob/dev/Jenkinsfile#L25.
    3. Below are the commands automated via the Jenkins. No need to run these separately.
      1. helm install dynatrace-operator oci://docker.repo1.uhc.com/dynatrace/dynatrace-operator --create-namespace --namespace dynatrace
      2. kubectl -n dynatrace create secret generic dynakube --from-literal=apiToken=##DYNAKUBE_API_INGEST_TOKEN## --from-literal=dataIngestToken=##DYNAKUBE_DATA_INGEST_TOKEN##
      3. kubectl apply -f dynakube.yaml
      4. Manually labeling the resources.

Uninstalling Dynatrace Agent.

  1. To Uninstall we need to remove the Dynatrace Agent and remove all the labels, to revert all the changes. All the steps are automated with the Jenkins Pipeline
